Spend your days cycling and camping and island hopping and swimming and sunset watching over the majestic Lake Victoria! We take you to Homabay County, where the lake waters are crispy blue and the hills an alluring green; where the fish is ever tasty, the locals friendly, the sandy beaches white and the islands hold in them mysteries that spun years! We’ll ride through the history and beauty of the lakeside on this amazing bike tour.
Day One (May 29, 2021): Travel Day
– Depart for Mbita at 5.30am from Sarit Center. Route is via Narok.
– If you choose to fly, we can arrange pick up from Kisumu Airport and transfer to Mbita at an extra cost. Your bike and bags can travel in the bus though.
– Check in at Bimoss Beach Camp & Resort.
– Trip briefing, dinner and bonfire. If we arrive in good time, a short sunset ride to the fishing village of Sindo can be arranged.
Day Two (May 30, 2021): Mbita mainland and Rusinga Island (50km)
– Early breakfast
– Cycling around Rusinga Island, along the foothills of Gembe Hills and definitely near the sparkling blue watrs of the lake
– Return to camp for lunch and rest
– Sunset hike up Gembe Hill (optional)
– Return to camp for dinner & bonfire
Day Three (May 31, 2021): Mfangano Island (33km):
– Early breakfast
– Boat ride with bikes to Sena Beach for the a circuitous ride on Mfangano Island with a Lunch top on Mawanga Beach.
– Hike up to the caves and shrines of the Wasamo Clan, Suba tribe. Learn more about the local culture and the relevance of these attractions.
– Boat ride to Takawiri Island for a swim, drinks and chill.
– Return to Camp just before sunset.
– Dinner and bonfire.
Day Four (June 1, 2021): Travel Day
– Early breakfast
– Bus leaves for Nairobi. If flying back, we can arrange your transfer to Kisumu International Airport at an extra cost.
– Ksh. 25,000 (with transport)
– Ksh. 19,000 (self-drive)
***Bike hire is an extra Ksh. 1500 per day for 2 days
– Transport from Nairobi and back
– Services of professional English-speaking driver, guides and cook
– All campsite fees
– All camping equipment including a tent, foam mattresses and bedding
– EIGHT meals
– Drinking water during the day and meal times. Guests should bring refillable bottles to reduce plastic waste.
– Boat ride on Lake Victoria
– Takawiri Island landing fees
– Guide fees to Wasamo clan historic sites
– Upgrade to single or double room occupancy
– Drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic)
– Energy bars or gels or snacks
– Any additional personal expenses
A NON-REFUNDABLE deposit of Ksh. 8,000 should be sent to Mpesa Till No. 960934 by May 21, 2021. The remaining amount should be cleared by May 27, 2020.
